Explore tango through the fundamentals that we learn, re-learn, refine and apply throughout our journey. Designed to be accessible and orienting for beginners as well as a refinement practice for experienced dancers, these workshops are intended to unite dancers at all phases of tango experience for mutual encouragement and to model the importance of continuous exploration and attention to the fundamentals.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Working from inside out, approximately half the class will be solo practices.
The second half we will be working in partnership.
Partner exchanges are encouraged.
Workshops are thematic and may combine any of the following:
- Solo conditioning and mindfulness practices to prepare our inner state
- Solo practices for tango posture, balance and walking
- Guided reflection and inquiry-based dialogue
- Paired practices to refine embrace, communication, connection and walking
- Paired experiments for feedback, observation and fun
WHY JOIN?
Solo practice is the most important accelerator of our dance. Tracey teaches tango as an inside-out practice, discovery and inquiry. Solo practices will invite you to explore your sensitivity, refine balance, comfort and precision.
Experienced dancers will benefit from this time to digest and refine their ongoing practice of tango in body, mind and heart.
Beginners are invited to take their initial steps toward exploring Argentine tango for the first time– like a pre-study or on-ramp into a regular beginner tango session to set you up for success.
Dancers of other modalities will benefit from learning tango’s attention to balance, changes of weight, embracing our partner and learning as a partnership endeavour.
